'Fabric Sofas' is such a big area that I will subdivide it into natural and synthetic although many fabrics will be a mixture just to complicate things.
Synthetic can be
Dralon or other acrylics.
Nylon/Polyamide
Polyester
Various mixtures of different fibres.
Natural can be;
Cotton
Linen
Cotton/linen mix
Viscose
Viscose/Cotton mixes
Many sofa fabrics are a mixture of natural and synthetic.
As you can see fabric indentification is complicated, and requires an understanding of the different properties of fibres.
This is one of the main reasons upholstery cleaning is best left to the professional, who will have a range of different chemicals for different fabrics and will know which ones to use !
